Uncertainty and Risk Analysis in Hydrological Models for Land- use Management

چکیده
The characterisation of uncertainty and risk analysis are two research domains that have many common elements. Specifically, they are both based on an acknowledgment that decisions are never made using perfect knowledge and therefore always have some degree of associated risk or uncertainty. Research in uncertainty addresses this by seeking to understand the causes of uncertainty, and to quantify the magnitude of uncertainty associated with limited information. Risk analysis is more focussed upon making decisions in the face of uncertainty. In this paper, areas of overlap between uncertainty research and risk analysis are presented and discussed in the context of hydrological models. A number of fundamental terms in uncertainty and risk are defined, and ways of presenting uncertainty related to risk analysis are described.

Application of conceptual hydrological models is an important issue in watersheds for researchers, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. The hydrological behaviors are complicated in such watersheds and their calibration is more difficult. In this article, the conceptual and semi-distributed SWAT model is used for a semi-arid Nishabour watershed with 9350 km2 area. Streamflow simulation is ...

EXTENDED ABSTRACT The land use change of watersheds has entailed many impacts on the processes of erosion and sediment yield over the time, and has caused the loss of soil quality and fertility. On the other hand, an increase in the sediment generation and its accumulation would reduce the capacity of the reservoirs. In this respect, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects o...

Hydrological processes and their spatial distribution directly are relevant to climate, topography, geology, and land use in the watershed. Therefore, use of a model whit integrity and high performance for simulating the process in deferent watersheds is very important. In this study was assessment performance of semi-distributed SWAT model in simulating hydrology processes in three watersheds ...

The runoff simulation have particular importance in Civil works, river training, design and planning of ground water resources, flood control and prevention of environmental hazards and reduction of erosion and sedimentation in the watershed. The runoff in each region varies according to climatic conditions, hydrological, soil and vegetation in the basin. Simulate these processes need to ...
